A: Yes! WaveWatch is completely free with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no hidden costs. All features are available to everyone.

Q: What data sources do you use?
A: We combine data from multiple reliable sources including Open-Meteo marine API, NOAA models, and local weather buoys for comprehensive marine intelligence.

Q: Can I use it for professional marine activities?
A: While WaveWatch provides professional-grade marine data, it's designed for recreational use. Always consult official marine forecasts for commercial or professional navigation.

Q: What units are supported?
A: Choose from nautical units (knots, meters), metric (km/h, Celsius), or imperial (mph, Fahrenheit). Settings are saved automatically.

Q: How far ahead are the forecasts?
A: WaveWatch provides detailed forecasts up to 10 days ahead with hourly precision for the first few days.

Q: Is my location data private?
A: Your location is only used locally on your device to fetch weather data. It is not transmitted to our servers. We never store or share your location history.

Q: Why do I need location permission?
A: Location permission allows WaveWatch to automatically show weather for your current area and nearby harbors/beaches. You can also search for any location worldwide.

WaveWatch Privacy Policy

WaveWatch is designed with your privacy in mind. We do NOT collect, store, or transmit any personal information (PII).

Location Data: Your location is only used locally on your device to show weather information for your area. It is not transmitted to our servers.
Favorites: Your saved favorite locations are stored only on your device using local storage. This data never leaves your device.
Usage Data: We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage data (such as app launches, screen views, and interactions) to help us improve the app. This data does not contain any personally identifiable information.

2. DATA STORAGE

All personal data is stored locally on your device:

Favorite locations
User preferences (units, settings)
Cached weather data

This data is stored using your device's secure local storage and is not accessible to us or any third party.

3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We use the following third-party services:

Google Firebase Analytics: For analyzing aggregated app usage trends. Firebase may collect your device's IP address and other device identifiers to generate these analytics, but this data is anonymized and not linked to your identity.
