1. Data Collection

Chuckles Weather is designed with privacy in mind. We do not require you to create an account, and we do not store your personal location history on our servers.

2. Analytics & Session Recording

We use PostHog for analytics to help us improve the app experience. This includes:

Anonymous usage analytics: Aggregated events such as app opens, feature usage, and navigation patterns. This data does not identify you personally.
Session replay: Anonymous session replays to understand how users interact with the app. All text inputs are masked and images are blurred.
Network telemetry: Performance data (timing, status codes) to monitor reliability. Request and response bodies are not captured.

PostHog data is processed on EU servers (eu.i.posthog.com) and is subject to PostHog’s own privacy policy.

3. Location Data

Your precise location is used solely to fetch accurate weather forecasts. Weather data is provided by Open-Meteo. Your coordinates are sent to their API to retrieve forecasts but are not permanently stored or linked to a user profile.

4. Local Storage

Your settings (units, preferences) and saved locations are stored locally on your device. You can clear this data at any time by clearing the app’s data in your device settings.

5. Data Retention

Analytics data: Retained for up to 12 months, then automatically deleted.
Session replays: Retained for up to 30 days, then automatically deleted.
Local data: Stored until you manually clear app data or uninstall the app.

6. Third-Party Services

Open-Meteo: Weather data provider.
PostHog (EU): Analytics and session replay using EU servers.
Expo: Over-the-air updates and runtime environment.

7. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access and receive a copy of your personal data
Request deletion of your personal data
Object to or restrict processing of your data
Opt out of analytics tracking

Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, most data cannot be linked to you specifically.
